Toastmaster THM5100 Hand-Held Mixer

How It Works
The controls on the mixer step up or down the power to the motor which in turn controls the speed of the mixer beaters. The motor, housed inside the cage, draws electrical power from the cord and in turn converts it to mechanical power. The white piece holds the motor brushes. The motor is connected rigidly to a shaft which runs the length of the mixer. The shaft, held in place by the ball, is threaded and geared with the two gage mixers, which are connected to the mixer prongs. As the shaft rotates, the threads turn the gears on the gage mixers and rotate the mixer prongs. The plastic shaft piece holds the gage mixer and prongs rigidly in place. The end of the shaft is connected to the fan, so as the motor rotates faster, so does the fan without any additional input. The fan draws air in through the slots in the bottom cover and pushes it through the length of the assembly and out the rear slots.

Step by Step Disassembly
Mixer Body:
- Pull out Mixer Prongs
- Unscrew outer housing pan head screws from mixer body
- Separate top cover and bottom cover
- Remove velocity control assembly from bottom cover
Velocity Control Assembly:
- Remove springs
- Remove plastic washer
- Unhook bronze controller
Mixer Body:
- Unscrew all interior small pan head screws from motor cage and mixer prong shafts
- Remove bottom cover from interior assembly
Interior Assembly:
- Unhook gage holders from gage mixers
- Remove gage mixers
- Remove U-Shaped Plastic piece from motor
- Unscrew interior large pan head bolts from motor cage
- Pull away mixer prong shafts
- Remove inside motor with attached fan and shaft from motor cage
- Separate brushes from motor cage
- Separate claw-shaped piece from motor cage
- Remove white plastic piece from motor cage
- Unscrew fan from inside motor shaft
- Remove plastic washer from inside motor
