Step-link chain

This is an older style of chain, with 1" pitch. This type of chain has the same number of rollers as a similar length of normal 1/2" pitch chain, but they are spaced alternately close together and far apart. Every other roller engages a sprocket tooth. This type of chain was in common use up until around World War Two.
