Project Introduction Outline -(Group 10)
Gate 1 - Project Planning (Group 10)
Product Description
The product that we are going to analyze for this project will be a Bolens 726-01 dual-stage snow blower. This is a large, self propelled, snow blower that was made in 1973. It is powered by a one cylinder, four stroke, gas powered engine that supplies power to both the auger blade and the wheels.
Project Description
The project at hand will require us to reverse engineer this snow blower in an effort to come up with a detailed analysis of the snow blower. In order to come up with this analysis, we will disassemble the snow blower down to each individual nut and bolt, document and record (pictures/written descriptions) each dis-assembly step, and reassemble the snow blower. Throughout this process we will be looking at various design aspects and considerations that went into the design of the snow blower and eventually develop our own design revisions that we feel would improve the overall function of the snow blower.
Gate Overview
- Gate 1 of the project will consist of the following information:
- Work Proposal: An explanation on how we plan to get this project done considering the skill set of the members in the group and the potential challenges that this product may present us with.
- Management Proposal: An explanation on how the group plans to function and communicate amongst each other and with the professors. This includes roles of each member based on each individual's abilities. Will also address how conflicts will be handled.
- Product Archaeology: An initial analysis of the snow blower without doing any dissections. This will include the product's history, design factors/concerns, complexity, materials used, and product alternatives.
