Manufacturing Process: Molded

Function: Prevents leaking of fluid from the front plate, and creates a tight seal.

Other:

Rubber was used because of its softness, and ability to form a good seal.

Force applied to the gasket is compression force.

The magnitude of compression force is estimated to be 20 lbs.

The material choice does effect the process. If it was any other type of material it might have to go though a different process like stamping.

The shape does not effect the manufacturing process of this component.

Each manufacturing process was chosen for this component because it was the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to do it at high volumes of product.
