Group 26 - Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker Gate 3 Coordination Review
Purpose
The overall purpose of gate 3 is to complete a detailed analysis of the different components of the Mr. Coffee coffee maker. To do this, a summary of most of the components of the coffee maker will be provided. This summary will detail and explain each of the major components and the role they play in the over-all process. An image of each component along with the components function, material, and manufacturing process will also be included in this gate. There will also be four design revisions of a few of the components for the product. The changes will be made with consideration to the "four factors" (global, societal, economic, and environmental). The changes will also be made with improving performance and target consumer in mind. There will also be a solid modeling of one of the major subfunctions in the coffee maker, The Filter process. This is the area of the coffee maker where all other subfunctions come together to complete the final task, brewing coffee. The solid model will help to better show how this part of the product and its components come together and function.
Cause For Corrective Action
Most of group 26's problems have been worked out at this point and we are working well together. We have stopped relying on email for all comunication, because in gate 1 we realized this method took to long to figure things out. We now mostly rely on group meetings, phone calls and text messages for a bulk of our communication. We also work on parts to each gate as a team now, where in the first and part of the second gate we split the work and worked mostly individually with a few group parts. Although most of our problems have at this point been resolved and worked out, there are still a few things that need to be worked on. Group 26 has been having a hard time meeting deadlines in each gate, and we are constantly pushing back deadlines due to poor time management. We also have a problem with some poor work quality being done that needs to be redone before turn in, costing us more time. These problems will be resolved with a group meeting evaluating our work quality and time management. if after this meeting the problems persist, we will talk to the professor.
