==Narrative Bio==



William Regli is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science in
the College of Engineering at Drexel University with joint
appointments in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics
and Electrical and Computer Engineering.  He is also Executive
Director of The AJ Drexel Applied Communications and Information
Networking (ACIN) Institute, a University-wide multi-disciplinary
research initiatve of Drexel University.  Regli received his Ph.D.  in
Computer Science from the University of Maryland at College Park
(1995) and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from Saint
Joseph's University (1989).  He has previously been a visiting
researcher at Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Laboratories
(2003-2005), Research Scientist at AT\&T Laboratories' Internet
Platforms Technology Organization (1999), member of the Research
Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University (1997) and a National Research
Council (NRC) Post-Doctoral Research Associate (1996-1997) and
Computer Scientist (1992-1996) at the National Institute of Standards
and Technology (NIST).

Dr. Regli is an interdisciplinary researcher whose interests and
contributions span several computer science and engineering fields
(artificial intelligence, solid modeling and graphics, CAD/CAM,
integration science, mechanical design, and wireless networks).  His
research has been sponsored by a wide variety or organizations
(including US Army, DISA, NSF, ONR, ARO, DARPA, NIST, DoJ, Boeing,
Lockheed Martin, AT\&T Labs, General Electric), supporting over 150
graduate and undergraduate students and producing four patent filings
and over 200 technical publications.  Regli's research awards include
major grants under each of NSF's interdisciplinary research
initiatives of the past decade: KDI, ITR and Cyber-Infrastructure
programs.  Nine (9) of his undergraduates have been acknowledged by
Computing Research Association as part of their Annual Outstanding
Undergraduate Competition, including one winner of the award and two
finalists.

Regli is the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award (1998), a National
Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship (1996-1997), a NIST Special
Service Award (1996), the Drexel College of Engineering Research
Achievement Award (2004), the 2005 IEEE Swarm Intelligence Symposium
Best Application Paper Award, 2009 IAAI Deployed Application Award,
among other awards.  Significant among these, the CERDEC Simulation & C2 Information Systems Connectivity
Experiments (SINCE) Program, which was supported in part by Regli's
Secure Wireless Agent Testbed (SWAT), was acknowledged with the U.S.
Army's 2006 International Collaboration Award at the 25th Army Science
Conference and as ``Best NCW Program'' at the 2007 Network Centric
Warfare (NCW) Conference hosted by the Institute for Defense and
Government Advancement.

Dr. Regli is co-founder of the IEEE Symposium on Multi-Agent Security
and Survivability (MAS&S 2004-2005)); a founding member of the
editorial board of the journal IEEE Internet Computing; and currently
serves on the Editorial Boards of Computer-Aided Design (CAD),
Advanced Engineering Informatics and the Journal of Artificial
Intelligence in Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing
(AI-EDAM).  He has held numerous guest editorial positions, including
the January 1996 issue of the Communications of the ACM which focused
on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science
and manufacturing.  Dr. Regli was an elected officer the Solid
Modeling Association (SMA) (2003-2007), the group that has
administered the annual Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling and
Applications for the ACM since 1991, and currently serves as its Chair
(2006-2007).  He served as the co-chair of the 2008 ACM Symposium on
Solid and Physical Modeling and serves as the General Chair for the
2009 ACM/SIAM Joint Conference on Solid and Geometric Modeling.  He is
a life member of AAAI and Sigma Xi and a Senior Member of both IEEE

technical publications, including 9 Transactions publications (3 IEEE
