Simple HTML Ontology Extensions (SHOE) was a precursor to the W3C group of standardized semantic web languages (OWL, DAML-OIL ). Its goal, similar to other semantic web languages, was to provide machine-readable metadata that can be processed by intelligent agents. SHOE accomplished this through simple extensions to HTML. With the development of DAML, SHOE became outdated and eventually replaced by more expressive languages. It is no longer being maintained.
