User requirements:
- Mixes foods
- Is handheld and ergonomic
- Visually Appealing
- Does not Jam with food
- Durability
- Detachable beaters
Engineering specifications:
- Maximum mass (grams)
- Minimum mixer angular speed (radians/second)
- Variable speed (number of speeds)
- Minimum size of opening against beaters (mm)
- High gear reduction ratio

Parts
The table below contains the Bill of Materials for the Durabrand Hand Mixer:
| Part # | Part Name | Category | Function | Material | Picture |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | External Switch | Input | Turns on and changes the speed of the mixer | ABS plastic | |
| 2 | Eject button | Input | Ejects the beaters | ABS plastic | |
| 3 | Ejector springs | Other | Returns button back to unpressed position | Metal | |
| 4 | Case | Structural | Seperates inner parts from user and provides an ergonomic handle | ABS plastic | |
| 5 | Switch | Input | Allows different amounts of current to enter the motor | copper and plastic | |
| 6 | Magnet | Transmission | Creates a magnetic flux to make the current carrying copper wire in the motor rotate | ABS plastic | |
| 7 | Fan | Other | Cools motor by sending air past it | ABS plastic | |
| 8 | Motor | Input | Converts electrical energy into mechanical rotation energy | Mostly Copper | |
| 9 | Worm gear | Transmission | Carries rotational power from motor | Plastic | |
| 10 | Gears | Transmission | Changes the shaft roatation from the motor into 2 parallel rotations | Metal | |
| 11 | Power cord | Input | Plugs into wall and provides AC current | Copper and rubber | |
| 12 | Beaters | Output | Mixes food | Metal | |
| 13 | Wires | Input | carries current from switch to motor | Copper and rubber | |
| 14 | Screws | Structural | Holds various pieces together | Metal |
