Energy Profile
- This section outlines the energy conversions, starting with the translational mechanical motion applied by :the user and ending with the rotational mechanical energy that is sent to the gear train and ultimately spins :the auger. See Figure () for a graphical explanation to aid in understanding the subsequent paragraphs which :further describe the conversions taking place.
- By drawing on the pull-start mechanism, translational mechanical energy is created. This cord is wrapped :around the crankshaft axle such that when the chord is pulled, the crankshaft is rotated, converting the :translational energy to rotational energy. As the crankshaft rotates, it pushes the piston upwards, towards the :spark plug, converting the rotation back into translational energy. In the case of the electric start, the :spark is supplied directly from electrical power.
