Project Summary
Group 10 was given the assignment of analyzing, dissecting, and reanalyzing a Honda CBR600F2 motorbike engine in order to master essential skills such as critical thinking, information synthesis, engineering analysis, and technical communication. The engine was reverse-engineered through a careful plan of disassembly, analyzation, and reassembly to understand its life cycle and product archaeology.
Gate 1: Project Planning
The purpose of Gate 1 is to gain a broad understanding of the project, the engine, and our fellow group members. The deliverables for this Gate are a Work Proposal, Management Proposal, and Product Archaeology.
Group 10 2011 Gate 1: Project Planning
Gate 2: Product Dissection
The purpose of Gate 2 is to complete a physical disassembly of the engine. This will be done by following the plan outlined in Gate 1 and documenting each and every step taken for further analysis. The deliverables for this Gate are a Preliminary Project Review and an outline of the Product Dissection.
Group 10 2011 Gate 2: Product Dissection
Gate 3: Product Analysis
The purpose of Gate 3 is to complete a detailed analysis of all of the dissecting parts of the engine. The engine is now examined at the component and subsystem level in order to gather additional information. This is executed through a technical report that includes a component summary, Product analysis, solid modeled assembly, and an engineering analysis.
