Gate 4 –Product Explanation
| Product Archaeology:Stage | Stage Description | Link to Page |
| Project Management: Critical Project Review |
This is the last gate before final submission. For unresolved challenges propose how your group is going to address these problems. For challenges that have been addressed describe how your group dealt with the problems. Be very specific in all cases. |
|
| Product Archaeology: Product Explanation |
Provide a step by step process describing how your product was reassembled. Be extremely specific and include the tool used and how it was used. If you faced challenges during reassembly outline those challenges and describe how they were overcome. Using your outline an individual not familiar with the product should be able to successfully reassemble the product. Be sure to note how difficult it was to reassemble the product and provide pictures or videos where relevant. During the reassembly, consider the questions in Table 1. |
|
| Mechanisms |
Your group must identify one or more mechanisms that your device uses to generate specific motion, control system behavior, modify/condition energy, etc. For this mechanism, identify its technical name, clearly state its purpose, document how the mechanism works, and provide equations which are required for the design of the mechanism. |
|
| Design Revisions |
Recommend at least 3 design changes for the product at the system level, including features you would change or eliminate. These changes should address one or more of the following: global, societal, economic, or environmental concerns. The changes should improve performance, serviceability, cost, etc. Keep in mind the products target audience and price point when making changes. |
