The goal of this gate of the project is to complete a detailed analysis of our Snow Blower. In this stage we examined the product at the component and subsystem level, gathering and analyzing detailed information, past what we did in the previous two gates. This proses entailed the revision of our parts list form gate two to include the manufacturing processes used to create each part as well as applicable part numbers on the parts. Also we analyzed some parts in more depth creating solid models and also suggested design revisions which could be made to our product.

The group as a whole has run very efficiently over the stage of Gate 3. When the group plans to meet at either the lab or in a different location such as the library, everyone attends or tells the other members if they are suddenly unable to attend. The group communicates in a central location and that is the facebook page one of our members designated for our group. This is also where the group posts documents, pictures and any other information regarding the project, homework assignments and meeting times. Using this tool the group manages its time and locations wisely. At this point everyone in the group is on the same page with each other and understands what each member’s skills are and what they bring to the group. When completing an assignment or portion of an assignment, the group member who feels strongest about completing each portion of the assignment takes on a larger responsibility for that section so that everyone does what they are comfortable with doing and everyone is open to helping others. Before assignments are turned in the group meets multiple times to collaborate on their collective efforts and make sure everything is organized in a concise yet detailed and complete fashion. The information each person does is eventually sent to the group facilitator who puts it into the wiki. Using our process of individual work, group collaboration and helping each other along the way, we have tackled each problem and can continue to tackle any problem we will face.

In this stage we examined the product at the component and subsystem level, gathering and analyzing detailed information, past what we did in the previous two gates. Also we analyzed some parts in more depth creating solid models and also suggested design revisions which could be made to our product.


Project Management

The group as a whole has run very efficiently over the stage of Gate 3. When the group plans to meet at either the lab or in a different location such as the library, everyone attends or tells the other members if they are suddenly unable to attend. The group communicates in a central location and that is the facebook page one of our members designated for our group. This is also where the group posts documents, pictures and any other information regarding the project, homework assignments and meeting times. Using this tool the group manages its time and locations wisely. In this section we documented all of the product’s components. In addition to an image of the component, we also identified the component’s function, materials used, manufacturing processes used,an model. As well as the number of times the components is used.

Product Analysis

In this section we analyze the engineering decisions that were made during the design of our product, considering the many design questions ,in Table 1 (under the table one link to the right),of a few vital components of our product.In this section we also analyse the complexity of the parts in question using our derived Complexity Scale which can be found under the Complexity Scale link to the right.

Solid Modeled Assembly

In this section our group provides solid models of 5 key components of our Snow Blower using Autodesk Inventor.

Engineering Analysis

In this section our group explains how engineering analysis would be used in the design of the Engine. we provide a detailed description including relevant equations and processes that would allow an engineer to easily perform this analysis following the analysis process.

Design Revisions

In this section we suggest 4 design changes for our product at the component or subsystem level.
