Extension: XYZ

Program and/or Extension Function: Graph Coordinates

Specific Notes: A number of CAD programs work with .XYZ files which are comma delimited text files containing just xyz coordinates of points in space. The free program DXF2XYZ converts a DXF file to an XYZ file. Some other 3D scanners also use this format. RapidForm Free Viewer may be able to view them.

File Classification: Text

Associated Links: DXF2XYZ, RapidForm Free Viewer

Identifying Characters: (None or Unknown)

Program ID: (None or Unknown)

General Notes: Various programs use this extension; too many to list individually. Take clues from the location of the file as a possible pointer to exactly which program is producing the file. The file's date and time can also help if you know which programs you were running when the file was written.
