Introduction

In September 14th, 2011, group 12 proposed Bissell 6579-2 vacuum model as the product of MAE 277 course. The purpose of this project is to develop technical communication skill, analysis skill, better problem solving skill and other skills necessary to participate in a group. This project will consists of the dissection, documentation, assembly, and presentation of our product. The group 12 will document all of critical elements of the project with a picture or diagrams. And also the group will organize data and informations and present it via Wiki page.

Executive Summary

The purpose of this section is to give a summarization of the key processes utilized throughout the project and their findings. These descriptions will include the purpose of each process and what we learned from them. The findings that Group 12 has discovered during the entirety of the project are numerous. In terms of actually performing the project, each group member has gained much experience in how to function with others as a team. Group members were each given a different role and their own value that contributed to the project as a whole. In terms of the product, dissecting, analyzing, and reassembling the Bissell PowerForce® Bagless Upright Vacuum 6579-2 had taught everyone in the group about actual applications of technical systems. It has also given the group hands-on experience that is useful in all engineering jobs and applications.

Gate1: Request for Proposal

The purpose of Gate 1 helps the group 12 to become more familiar with the project. The group did the work proposal, management proposal and product archaeology of Bissell 6579-2 vacuum model. The objective to Gate 1 is to prepare the dissection and lay out plan for this project.

Gate 1: Product Assessment Profiles

Gate2

Gate 2 gave group 12 a better understanding of our product's parts and subsystem arrangements. In this section the group did a section on product Archaeology involving a complete dissection of the Bissell 6579-2, as well as, a detailed list of steps to take the vacuum apart. In addition, the group provided a Preliminary Project review and also answered some basic questions on the dissection itself, as well as, the Vacuums subsystems and overall functions. The objective of Gate 2 was to successfully dissect and provide details for the Bissell Vacuum's functions and subsystems.
