We do not anticipate the dissection of the Nerf Pyragon to be a problematic procedure. The tools that we will need will be a Phillips head screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, and a rubber hammer. The Nerf gun is assembled with mostly Phillips screws so the Phillips head screwdriver will be the most needed tool we use. The flat head screwdriver will be helpful in prying apart the plastic gun and parts inside it. Also, the rubber hammer will be useful to aid in prying apart the plastic parts involved in our Nerf gun product. We predict it will take approximately three hours to dissect our product. This involves taking it apart and analyzing the parts inside of the product. We assumed about an hour for dis-assembly, an hour for analysis, and an hour to reassemble the gun. There are a few challenges we foresee in the dissection of our product.
The clip involved with our Nerf product appears to be the greatest challenge as far as complexity. The disc ammunition is loaded through a top opening into a designated chamber. Once the chamber is full a lever mechanism is used to rotate the chambers so the next one can be filled. This is repeated four times, and as the gun fires it rotates backwards to its original position. This means there are several locking and unlocking mechanisms involved with loading and firing, which means more dis assembly, analysis, and reassembly. The pump on the end of the gun performs several operations with one quick motion. When pumped a disc is chambered to be fired, the spring is compressed, and the trigger is primed. Because of the number of duties performed by this piece of the gun, the pump will require special attention. The trigger is challenging also because it performs more than one task. It simultaneously releases the spring to fire the disc, and readies the next disc to be fired. With special attention to the magazine, pump, and trigger our group should be able to overcome the more difficult concepts of the Nerf toy.
Group Capabilities Assessment
Each member of our group has their own capabilities to benefit the dissection of our product. Regardless of capabilities, each member also has shortcomings that may affect our work. The table below demonstrates these pros and cons.

- Responsibilities: Ryan's responsibilities are to be a proof reader; because of his technical writing background he is the most eligible person to do so. Ryan will also be assigned portions of the gates assigned in group meetings.
- Capabilities: Good time management skills, leadership ability, communication skills, typing skills
- Shortcomings: Never owned a Nerf gun
- Responsibilities: Rachel is to be a reviser. Along with her weekly assigned portions of gates, Rachel will look over what is submitted. Rachel's other responsibilities are that the group remains on track and on time. Rachel will assign meeting dates and times and make sure we all can go.
- Capabilities: Previous experience with Nerf guns, had classes in physics and CAD
- Shortcomings: Hasty
- Responsibilities: Peter is the submitter. He is to be in control of the wiki. He will get emailed all work completed by group members. Along with completing his assigned gate sections from meetings, he will tie up any loose ends of the gates before due date.
- Capabilities: Previous experience with Nerf guns, has experience with CAD, and Inventor
- Shortcomings: Bad time management skills
- Responsibilities: Brenden had the responsibility to bring everything together and make everything function properly; solve the groups problems. Before due date Brenden will make sure everything is done, proof read, and submitted; if something is not completed he will complete or make sure it does. Along with being the communicator, he will have the responsibilities of each portion of the gates assigned by group members in meetings.
To better manage the project we have assigned roles to each group member to lighten the work load and better organize the task. Rachel has been assigned Project Manager, due to her proficiency in leadership and time management. Peter has taken the Web Expert position, because he has previous experience with web programming. His position will require him to update the wiki when needed and handle other online research tasks. Brenden offered to take the Communication Liaison role, and will be relaying information from the group to the professors and the other way around. Ryan will be filling in the Tech Expert position, and will be revising and working on technical papers throughout the project.

- Development Profile
Our product was developed in the beginning of the year 2012. With prices increasing during the time this gun was developed, this gun had to be a cheap but fun Nerf toy for children to play with. This was a major economical concern for the Nerf company. People would need to spend more of their money on food and gas so they are less likely to buy an expensive toy. Global concerns for the Nerf gun have been similar throughout the years. It has to be made to look like a child's toy so it cannot be mistaken for real guns. This gun is sold in North America and the UK. The toy is intended to be a cheap and safe toy for children ages 8 and up. The toy rarely breaks so the consumer can use the Nerf gun for many years.
- Usage Profile
The intended use of or Nerf gun is for the enjoyment of children. Adults can also use this product. It is made to be used at home or outdoors in nice weather. Like most other toys, the Nerf gun is small enough for a child to take with him to friends houses to enjoy with others. The product preforms the job of entertaining children in a safe, fun, and cheap way.
- Energy Profile
Most of the energy used for our Nerf gun is user input. The user pulls back the cocking mechanism which sets a spring. The spring now holds potential energy until the trigger is pulled. Once the trigger is pulled, the potential energy of the spring converts into kinetic energy of the disc which then shoots out of the gun.
- Complexity Profile
Inside our Nerf gun we believe there are several components used to get the disc set and shot out. The components consist of a clip, clip mechanisms, trigger, cocking mechanism, and jam release. There is also a detachable drum chamber that stores the discs. We believe that the drum chamber will be the most complex component. Other components will be rather simple. The component interactions are also very simple.

Most of our product is made out of plastic. The discs are made out of plastic and surrounded with foam. There are also metal screws that hold everything together. We believe that there are a few springs inside of our Nerf gun along with more plastic parts and screws.
