The primary function of the can opener is to cut cans open. An electrical motor spins the geared wheel, which in turn spins the can while the blade remains stationary and cut the lid off.

User requirements:

  • plug outlet to power the device
  • standard canned product to cut off the lid
  • small enough can that can be successfully held by the can opener

Engineering specifications:

  • minimum power output
  • mimimum can diameter
  • minimum can height and weight
