3DPDF +3D PDF with Universal 3D (u3d) file format

A

ACIS Format +The ACIS format is intended to be open and neutral so many different CAD programs can operate with it. ACIS is also a type of 3D modeling kernel.
ACIS SAB +The ACIS SAB format is intended to be open and neutral so many different CAD programs can operate with it. ACIS is also a type of 3D modeling kernel.
ACIS SAT +The ACIS SAT format is intended to be open and neutral so many different CAD programs can operate with it. ACIS is also a type of 3D modeling kernel.
AD PRT +Default file format for Alibre Inc's software products
AN8 +A .an8 file is stored as a text file and can be viewed and edited by a simple text editor such at Notepad. Files are free format much like those used by popular programming languages like C. At the text level they are similarly composed of scanner tokens such as identifiers, numbers, strings and punctutation. Tokens are organized into nested "chunks" that contain specific data used by each specific chunk. Chunks share a common format so that a parser can easily skip over unrecognized or unneeded data. The .an8 format is designed to be both forward and backward compatible to a large degree largely due to chunks.
AutoCAD Format +The AutoCAD formats are designed for the proprietary application AutoCAD and also work with many other CAD applications.

B

B3D +The Blitz3D file format specifies a format for storing texture, brush and entity descriptions for use with the Blitz3D programming language.

C

COB +trueSpace7.6 is a fully-featured 3D authoring package that will let you model, texture, light, animate and render 3D content. As well as traditional images and movies, you can also make 3D content for online shared spaces, and for Virtual Earth.

D

DAE +COLLADA is a royalty-free XML schema that enables digital asset exchange within the interactive 3D industry.

E

EDrawings Viewer +eDrawings software is a product design communication tool for sharing accurate representations of both 2D drawings and 3D models. The electronic data format of eDrawings files is highly compressed to enable easily transmission via email. When viewed with the eDrawings Viewer, these files provide intelligent interpretation tools (3D Pointer, Virtual Folding, Animated Drawing Views) that help the recipient easily understand and navigate the data they receive. eDrawings files are created through the use of the eDrawings Publisher add-in, which works as a plug-in to popular CAD products. Once created, an eDrawings file may be sent to anyone via email. To eliminate the frustrations normally associated with 2D and 3D design data, the viewer may be embedded directly in an eDrawings file. These files can immediately be viewed by anyone with a Windows operating system. No additional CAD software or viewers are required.
Egg +Egg files are used by Panda3D to describe many properties of a scene: simple geometry, including special effects and collision surfaces, characters including skeletons, morphs, and multiple-joint assignments, and character animation tables.

I

ISO 10303 +The STEP format is intended to be open and neutral so many different CAD programs can operate with it.
ISO 10303-21 +The STEP format is intended to be open and neutral so many different CAD programs can operate with it.
ISO 10303-28 +The STEP format is intended to be open and neutral so many different CAD programs can operate with it.

O

Opera (Application) +Multi-platform web browser

P

PAR +Solid Edge is a 3D CAD parametric feature solid modeling software. It runs on Microsoft Windows and provides solid modeling, assembly modelling and drafting functionality for mechanical engineers. Through third party applications it has links to many other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) technologies.
PLY +The Polygon File Format (PLY) was principally designed to store three dimensional data from 3D scanners. It supports a relatively simple description of a single object as a list of nominally flat polygons. It is both flexible enough to anticipate future needs and that is simple enough so as not to drive away potential users. The idea is to allow users to create their own utility functions that can be tailored to the file format and can read and/or write graphical representation of the data. These set of utilities can then be shared to the rest of the community. The PLY format describes an object as a collection of vertices, faces and other elements, along with properties such as color and normal direction that can be attached to these elements. A PLY file contains the description of exactly one object. Sources of such objects include: hand-digitized objects, polygon objects from modeling programs, range data, triangles from marching cubes (isosurfaces from volume data), terrain data, radiosity models. Properties that might be stored with the object include: color, surface normals, texture coordinates, transparency, range data confidence, and different properties for the front and back of a polygon.
POV +turing-complete 3D scene description language
PSMODEL +CAD/CAM - PowerSHAPE allows manipulation of the surface form of a CAD model, building from wireframe and making global changes with solid feature operations and editing.
Pro/E Assembly Format +The assembly format contains parts that make up the assembly.
Pro/E Part Format +The part format can contain parts that, together, create an assembly model.

S

SLDASM +SolidWorks Assembly format files are files produced by SolidWorks software. SolidWorks Assembly format files contain a number of SolidWorks Part format files that describe an object for CAD and CAM purposes.
SLDPRT +SolidWorks Part format files are files produced by SolidWorks software. SolidWorks Part format files contain geometric data that describes an object for CAD and CAM purposes. SolidWorks Part format files are also contained within SolidWorks Assembly format files.
SMD +Stores information in ASCII format for analysis and compilation by studiomdl, Valve's 3D asset compiler.
