Hard Plastic Washer

Manufacturing Process: Stamped out of plastic sheet.

Function: Helps create a better seal, and helps reduce friction wear.

Other:

Located at the end of the cylinders in the pneumatic system. Thickness of washer is .06 inches.

Hard plastic was used because it is rigid and durable, also easy to manufacture

Compression Force is applied to washer.

Estimation of force is 35lbs.

The material choice does effect the process. Plastic would wear out a stamp in a longer time, than metal would.

The shape does not effect the manufacturing process.

The manufacturing processes were chosen for this component because it was the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to do it at high volumes of product.

The bearing has a particular shape to fit hole , and so screw or bolt can go through its center.

The component is functional.
